I was working at Value Village, making $16 an hour as a recycler. No savings. No business degree. No connections. Just a burning frustration that I couldn’t keep living like this — and a decision that I would do whatever it took to build something better.
I couldn’t even afford a business license when I started.
So I borrowed a vacuum and a few cleaning supplies from my aunt, and launched my first business with nothing but hustle and scraped-together courage. I hit the ground running — marketing, booking jobs, cleaning houses myself — and somehow, in that first month, I made over $10,000.
It wasn’t easy. But it was possible.
From there, I kept going. Hired my first employees. Stepped out of the day-to-day. Then I launched a national cleaning subscription business that scaled across the country — hiring contractors, building systems, and growing something bigger than I ever imagined.
But even as I grew, I kept seeing the same thing: business owners struggling with the same stress I started with. Working their ass off just to stay afloat — not because they don’t care or aren’t smart, but because no one ever taught them how to actually build a business.
That’s why I started Vora.
